Aprehend is a revolutionary fungal biopesticide for the elimination and prevention of bed bugs.

The Challenge

Bed bugs continue to be a growing concern for residents and property owners alike. Bed bugs are opportunistic and are easily spread in a number of ways including by way of clothing, luggage, furniture, and shared common spaces. Bed bugs are also excellent at hiding, and adult bed bugs can stay hidden for days, weeks, or even months at a time. This has made early detection and prevention of bed bugs nearly impossible. Traditional methods of treatment, such as chemical treatments, and heat treatments, can be very effective at eliminating bed bugs. But, since traditional chemical treatments provide only a very limited residual effectiveness, and heat treatments provide no residual protection at all, eliminating bed bugs, or even keeping bed bugs under control in certain community environments has proven incredibly difficult.

The SOlution

This is where Aprehend comes in. Aprehend uses a natural fungal disease of insects that has been specifically developed for the control, elimination, and prevention of bed bugs. This fungus remains active for up to 3 months, ensuring that any bed bug present, or introduced, into the treated environment will pick up the fungal spores and die shortly thereafter.

Lavellan Tips For A Successful Aprehend Bed Bug Treatment

Calgary - Bed Bug In A Trap
  • Do not re-enter your home until after the time indicated by your Lavellan investigator. If you cannot remember your re-entry time, please contact us at 403-437-9310 to get a safe entry time following your treatment.

  • Re-assemble and make beds with clean sheets. Maintain normal sleeping routines and locations as best possible. Otherwise, bed bugs can remain dormant, or re-locate to new areas, and not contact the Aprehend barrier.

  • Regularly wash and dry all bedding used on beds at least once per week, for the next 5 weeks. Sheets and pillowcases should be washed and then dried on high heat for 30-40 minutes. Pillows, comforters, and larger blankets should be run through the dryer at high heat for 30-40 minutes.

  • Do not introduce any new bedroom furniture for the next 5 weeks. Introducing new furniture such as bed frames, mattresses, box springs, or nightstands, can provide untreated surfaces for bed bugs to hide in and avoid contact with the Aprehend barrier.

  • Be patient and expect some wandering behaviour. Prior to death, bugs can emerge at odd times of the day and in plain view. You will see significant knockdown in 4-7 days, but bed bugs may emerge from different life cycle stages after that. Don't be alarmed, the Aprehend barriers will keep working for up to 3 months.

  • Do not expose Aprehend to liquids, or other chemicals. Don't use water, cleaners, or over-the-counter pesticides on beds, bed frames, headboards, nightstands, baseboards, or closet door tracks, as this can render the Aprehend barrier completely ineffective.
